Total Solutions

With more than 40 years of experience in heavy lifting and multi modal transport, we believe that for any project, the greatest potential for savings lies in the conceptual design and planning stages. Mammoet can widen the design limits, thanks to its investment in special handling devices and high capacity equipment.

When moving large and/or heavy objects there are numerous constraints to cope with before determining the optimal solution. These are assessed by an in-depth engineering effort. Stability of the load during movement is critical; to ensure this, extra support may be necessary. The initial and end configurations of the load have to be considered. Structural integrity has to be checked. In addition, a detailed time schedule should to be developed to plan the operation within specified requirements. Mammoet provides all the necessary skills and expertise to engineer a comprehensive package, which forms the blueprint for any operation.

Integrated projects

Mammoet’s project management and engineering is challenged when exceptional constructions have to be moved to their final location. To move these items across water, highway or railway, innovative and creative solutions are required. Another challenge is to achieve the shortest possible execution time. In effect, the customers engineering experts that do the total design, can make full use of the lifting and transport limits, and thus may optimize their plans as well. Our extensive range of equipment and all kind of necessary support material leads to innovative solutions and ensures our position as full service provider

Factory to foundation

With the already famous factory to foundation concept, Mammoet handles and solves global logistic problems for the intercontinental transport and installation of heavy or our outsized items on new development sites and existing sites. It can be compared with completing a puzzle. Many small items must be brought together and there is only one perfect match to discover. If dozens of items are involved, the main contractor for all integrated transport and lifting issues must have a global scope and strong regional or even local ties and representatives. This makes Mammoet a unique partner whereby the optimized and integrated solution greatly reduces the total project cost. The factory-to-foundation services include all necessary engineering, road & site surveys, logistics, crew and equipment scheduling, documentation & paperwork, and assembly operations. Of course all operations comply with Mammoets SHE-Q regulations.

Modular construction

To control cost and to minimize risk with complicated operations at remote areas, many modules are pre-assembled to larger parts at their yards-of-birth. This modular concept is highly successful thanks to the good options for transport and lifting operations from the yard to the production site. An example is the dressing of modules, which arrive in a casco-state and are delivered to a temporary storage area on the destination site. It may take months then to bring in the appendages, install these with smaller cranes, and have the complete stack ready for a site-move and delivery onto its foundations. These site-moves can be performed with Mammoet's huge crawler cranes, with SPMTs or if needed with skidding and jacking techniques.

Relocation

Relocation, or the haul of complete production plants, is a challenge in itself. All facilities are taken apart to dimensions and weights that can be lifted and moved. On the new destination site, the whole procedure is reversed and the facilities are rebuilt, culminating in a successful commissioning for their re-start. To achieve this, a host of big and small cranes is needed, as well as transport equipment, transport frames, heavy lift ships, sea going barges or any other means that is required in multi modal transport solutions. Such projects push logistics to the limits and can only be completed within reasonable time if adequate resources in equipment and crew are available. Rental services often relieve the pressure on other subcontractor's resources and provide ample redundancy to cope with unexpected complications.

Project management

Mammoet offers her clients the possibility to take care of the total project management. Within the project management Mammoet takes full responsibility for the planning, time schedules and the complete logistic chain including the complex interface of the different transport modalities. Advantages of this project management method is the fact that client have only one pint of contact resulting in shorter communication lines and a quick and flexible approach.
