History
Mammoet UK Ltd. Is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mammoet B.V. of the Netherlands and was created through the acquisition of Mammoet by Van Seumeren BV. Both companies had UK based subsidiaries which were merged together in 2000 to create Mammoet UK Ltd.

In the early days, Mammoet Transport who operated from Middlesbrough, concentrated their efforts on land based transportation and shipping, as Mammoet BV owned and operated a fleet of Heavy Lift vessels. Their core business focused on the North Sea oil fields by supplying SPMT trailers for the loadout of large offshore modules and structures.

In contrast Van Seumeren’s interests, lay in the supply of large cranes for the petro-chemical industry and power related projects. Due to the parent companies circumstances in those days, Van Seumeren UK also took the lead in tendering for worldwide projects from its base in Northumberland and was soon establishing offices in the USA and Singapore. Prior to the merger, Van Seumeren moved into telescopic crane hire from its base in Wallsend and has since become the North East’s largest supplier of mobile cranes.

When the merger of the two companies took place in 2000, it was decided that the newly built offices of Van Seumeren in Wallsend on Tyne, would become the registered offices of the new company, due to its close proximity to Newcastle International airport etc.

The new company has evolved from its early days to become a household name in the specialist business of engineered heavy lifting and transportation, by offering ingenious solutions, quality engineering, dedicated personnel and above all superior safety standards throughout the UK.
