Description

The MSG 80 is a 3,000t class crane. It maintains a niche market position as its capacity sits in between that of the 1,600t and 5,000t class cranes. The diameter of the MSG is 25% larger than the 1,600t class ring cranes, but offers almost double the capacity. It requires a low footprint relative to its capacity and avoids the need for substantial civil works. Its long reach means it can take on many lifts from one location, thereby reducing interference with the overall construction program on site. Like other large Mammoet ring cranes, the MSG 80 is transported in standard shipping containers, and so is easy to mobilize. The containers used to transport the MSG 80 act as the ballast system when filled with freely available sand, reducing mobilization and preparation costs further.
