Statement on Coronavirus
by Paul van Gelder, CEO of Mammoet
The world is currently dealing with an unprecedented situation as it tackles the Coronavirus pandemic. I would like to share the steps Mammoet is taking to contribute to global safety during this challenging time.
We are constantly monitoring all developments with respect to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The health and safety of our clients, employees and other stakeholders is of the utmost importance. We are therefore implementing all applicable precautionary measures and following local health advice.
Many Mammoet professionals are continuing to provide services for our clients in affected areas, while observing the local safety precautions and advice. We are grateful to our dedicated colleagues who continue to safely deliver services for crucial projects in energy and infrastructure, where working from home is not possible.
Naturally, during this outbreak our priority is to protect the health of our employees, customers and partners. All Mammoet employees have received advice on basic precautionary measures such as good respiratory and hand hygiene practices, social distancing and when to seek medical attention or self-isolate.
We have also implemented locally recommended measures to limit the spread of the disease. Depending on the local situation, this includes travel restrictions, working from home where possible and avoiding large group meetings or events. Guidance is regularly issued by local, regional offices, in line with the current world and local health authority advice.
Mammoet has business continuity plans in place to minimize disruption to our business operations. We are actively managing the situation, in alignment with our parent company, SHV, and through daily communication between Mammoet’s board and our regional management teams. We are continually sharing updates, good practice and further information to manage the consequences of this situation. In addition, where we are executing projects in affected countries, we are coordinating closely with our customers.
We are continuing to monitor the situation and take any further measures, as required, to protect people and maintain business continuity. We are proud of the great teamwork and spirit that we see being shown across our business, and indeed throughout the heavy lifting industry, during this challenging situation. We are particularly grateful to healthcare professionals and other key workers during this time.
Take care and stay safe
