Sales Estimator


Job description

Responsible for developing Commercial and Technical proposals requiring technical expertise on project estimating, technical operations, cost analysis, risk analysis and contract management; and leads technical matters and may lead negotiations with the customer, in order to provide the customer a quotation in line with the internal standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Attend Job Walks and Bid meetings; Coordinate with Engineering for methodology development
  • Analyze request for quotation identify, describe, and estimate risks affecting the business 
  • Coordinate with Sales to develop Win Strategy’s, incorporate Sales Intelligence and Client relationship knowledge 
  • Assess availability and viability of equipment and select appropriately; Create project estimates and establish budgets reflective of the Equipment methodology, RFP and Quotation scope of work 
  • Estimating; calculate and set pricing, provide technical guidance related to sales quotations and customer requirement 
  • Write commercial proposals reflecting methodology and performance; including developing a detailed scope of work, schedules, commercial terms and clarifications, billing schedules, and compelling summary’s promoting Sellers services 
  • Set up bid Reviews along company guidelines 
  • Provide Handover to operations in consultation with the Sales team; maintain ongoing

Education & experience

  • Bachelor Degree 
  • 5-8 years+ of relevant work experience – Sales and/or Operations 
  • Technical knowledge of cranes, rigging and/or transportation equipment 
  • Field experience managing crane, rigging or transportation projects contracts, logistics or engineering 
  • Contract knowledge including Performance Contracting vs. Service as Directed, insurance, liability, change order documentation, etc. 
  • Labor workforce understanding of union and non-union work forces 
  • OSHA crane and rigging knowledge and other similar codes 
  • Strong writing skills 
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point); Advanced preferred 
  • Negotiating experience 
  • Project management, understanding of contracting principles 
  • English, fluent proficiency verbal and written
