Grand opening of the Mammoet Experience Store in bigger premises
Celebrating 20 years, Mammoet Merchandise has unveiled its new interactive retail store in Schiedam, the Netherlands. The store gives members of the public a chance to fully immerse themselves in the fascinating world of Mammoet.
Visitors to the new Mammoet Experience Store can purchase exclusive Mammoet clothing, scale models and souvenirs; learn about the history of the company; and even experience the thrill of what it’s like to sit in one of its cranes.
Mammoet opened its first retail store 20 years ago in February 2004. Back then, it was a dedicated area of an office, with cabinets showcasing a handful of scale models, T-shirts and caps.
Over the years, the popularity of its merchandise has gone from strength-to-strength, with Mammoet Merchandise growing into a successful part of the business.
New product lines have been added and the Mammoet Club launched, which rewards gold members with opportunities to purchase exclusive items.
The new 300 square meter store remains at the company's European headquarters, in Schiedam, but has been moved to a new larger building to elevate it into something more for visitors.
Interactive elements include dioramas, a showcase aisle of all its scale model collectables released over the years, and a history wall highlighting key Mammoet milestones.
The store’s design also takes inspiration from Mammoet equipment. There’s a table that is a 1:1 scale-model of a Mammoet 6-axle Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT), clothing rails that look like crane booms, and a hanging table made from spreader bars and slings.
There’s also the Mammoet Crane Experience: a real Liebherr crane cab that people can sit inside and, through the power of VR, take a virtual tour of different Mammoet equipment and projects.
Paul Gregoire, Managing Director at Mammoet Merchandise, said:
“We felt that the existing store didn’t really provide the kind of Mammoet experience we wanted to offer.
By relocating it to new, bigger premises, we’ve been able to completely rebuild the entire store from scratch and offer something that visitors won’t forget.
It’s my hope they come away with not only a nice souvenir, but also a better understanding of Mammoet’s impressive heritage, equipment and projects.”
